The VIC has invited Jeanne Danforth to serve as the juror for the 2016 Life on the Lakes show. She usually works in watercolor, oil, pastel, pen & ink, or acrylic, exploring the diverse lives the North Country offers. She divides most of her time between her Chateaugay studio and her Ellenburg Depot farm, as her pictures will attest. She is also co-owner of North of Adirondack Artists Gallery – a local art gallery displaying the works of over 23 of the area's artists, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel paintings, jewelry, pottery and much more. The gallery, located at 465 East Main Street, Malone, opened in September 2013.

Ms Danforth has a BA in painting and printmaking from Kansas City Art Institute. She is a member of the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery, located at 52 Main Street, Saranac Lake. Ms Danforth's work has been exhibited throughout northern New York, including several times at the Paul Smith's College VIC. She was awarded First Place Other Medium, for her work "Out of the Blue," in the 2015 Life on the Lakes show.

Artist's Statement: My art springs from an overwhelming compulsion for tactile exploration. As a child needs to minutely examine experience, so do I. My surroundings express themselves. I am merely the vehicle.
