Sunday Afternoon Live Music and Ski Series:
Sunday's Celtic Kitchen
2 March 2014

Weekends are for music at the VIC!

Sunday's Celtic KitchenThe Sunday Afternoon Live Music and Ski Series continues Sunday, 2 March in the Great Room at the VIC from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with Sunday’s Celtic Kitchen. Sunday's Celtic Kitchen proudly continues the Irish and Scottish tradition of dedicating Sundays to playing music with friends and neighbors. Combining the warmth of company, food, and drink, in past times kitchens were typically the setting for sessions. Pete Benson, David Filsinger, Barry Kilbourne, Emily Martz, Tom Minehan and Tony Munn regularly play together and look forward to sharing their day of rest by playing a variety of traditional Celtic tunes for the visitors of the VIC.

The jigs and reels you will hear are tunes from Ireland, Scotland and the Shetland Islands and are played on a variety of acoustic traditional instruments including fiddle, concertina, bodhran, guitar, mountain dulcimer, Irish whistle, octave mandolin and Irish tenor banjo. Although all tunes are traditional in origin, don't be surprised if you hear an “Adirondack twist” once in a while, just to change things up a little. So, wax up those skis and come out to the VIC this Sunday for an enjoyable afternoon of skiing on beautiful, groomed trails and listening to some great Celtic tunes. Entry is free with your ski pass.  Underwritten by Friends of the VIC.
